South Florida Condo Moving Checklist: Elevators, COIs & HOA Rules
Updated October 2026 · By the All Out Rubbish crew
Condo and HOA buildings in Palm Beach and Broward have their own moving rules, and missing one can stop a move at the front door. Use this checklist two weeks before moving day.
Two weeks out
Call the management office. Ask for the move hours, whether you must reserve the service elevator, whether a refundable deposit is required, and whether the mover must send a certificate of insurance (COI) naming the association.
One week out
Send the building's COI requirements to your mover. We are licensed, insured, and bonded and can send a certificate once we have the association's exact wording.
Moving day
Have the elevator pads and key ready, reserve the loading zone, and keep a parking pass for the truck. Walk the hallways with the building manager before and after so the deposit comes back.
Common surprises
Weekend move bans, 4-hour elevator windows, and trucks too tall for a parking garage. Tell your mover the building's clearance height before booking.

FAQs
What is a COI?
A certificate of insurance proves the moving company carries liability coverage. Many South Florida associations will not let movers in without one.
Can you move on a weekend?
We can, but many condo buildings do not allow it. Always check the building rules first.
