How To
What Photos Help a Grapple-Truck Pickup Quote?
5 min read · Updated 2026-10-25
For a grapple-truck pickup quote, photograph the whole debris pile, its contents and the truck's possible parking position. Include the address, approximate measurements and desired date. Photos help plan the work, but they do not establish exact weight or guarantee safe reach.
Start with the entire pile—not one close-up
Take a wide view from a safe, firm location. If the pile wraps around a corner or includes several separate stacks, show each one. A familiar object for scale helps, but keep people and pets outside the loading area.
If safely available, give approximate length, width and height. An irregular brush pile contains air gaps; its outer dimensions are not an exact loaded-volume measurement. Never climb onto branches or move unstable debris just to get a better picture.
Show what is underneath
A surface covered in leaves can conceal logs, soil, concrete or fencing. Describe every known material, and use close-ups for dense items or pieces that are difficult to identify. Explain whether stumps are detached and whether root balls contain soil.
Flag batteries, liquids, treated materials and anything unknown. Do not bury unusual waste inside vegetation or assume that an item accepted in another service can go into a grapple load. Acceptance and disposal need project-specific review.
Photograph the truck approach and loading position
Include the street or access road, driveway entrance and the space between a possible truck position and the pile. Show overhead wires, fences, trees, parked vehicles, soft ground and nearby buildings.
For gated communities, share entry restrictions and approved working hours. A clear photo cannot grant permission to park on a public street or cross a neighbor's property. Confirm the appropriate permission and wait for placement instructions before moving debris.
Attach the details photos cannot show
Give the exact pickup address, desired date, site contact and whether more debris will be added before pickup. State whether you want only bulk loading or additional hand cleanup. If a contractor is still working, explain when the pile will be ready.
- Exact address and authorized site contact
- Whole-pile and material close-up photos
- Access, overhead obstacles and possible parking position
- Approximate measurements if safely available
- Desired timing and requested cleanup scope
What happens if the pile changes?
Tell the hauler before arrival if more material is added, the contents change or access becomes blocked. Ask when those changes require a revised quote. Photos support planning; they are not a substitute for assessing the actual conditions at pickup.

Common questions
Can a photo tell you the exact debris weight?
No. Photos help identify materials and estimate the work, but density, moisture and hidden contents affect actual weight. Equipment and disposal suitability must be confirmed.
Should I move the pile to the curb before texting?
No—request placement guidance first. Keep material away from utilities, drains, sidewalks and travel lanes, and follow property and municipal restrictions.
