Is it worth paying for junk removal if the city picks up bulk trash for free?
City bulk pickup is free but slow, limited by volume, and you have to drag everything to the curb yourself. Junk removal is worth it when the item is heavy, the pickup date is weeks away, the pile exceeds city limits, or your HOA fines you for items left at the curb early.
Most South Florida HOAs prohibit curbside piles outside a tight window before collection day — a fine can cost more than the haul.
Cities generally won't take contractor debris, renovation material, or hazardous items at all.
