Are used tires safe?
Used tires can be safe when they have good tread, no plugs too close to the sidewall, no bulges or cracks, and aren't too old. We inspect every used tire we sell, and we'll tell you when new is the better choice.
Check the tread depth and the DOT date code on the sidewall.
Avoid tires with sidewall damage or dry rot.
Replacing one tire to match others is a common smart use for used tires.
