Stripped, Loaded & Hauled
Sod removal means taking out the grass and the top layer of root and soil holding it together, not just mowing it down. Where a machine can reach the area we strip it mechanically, which is faster and leaves a more even surface. On tight lots or narrow side-gate access common in older Delray Beach neighborhoods we cut and lift it by hand. Either way, everything cut leaves in our trailer — there is no pile left on the driveway.
Why People Pull Their Lawn Out
In South Florida it's usually chinch bug or fungus damage that has taken more of the lawn than a treatment can save, a lawn losing to weeds, a homeowner converting to rock, mulch, or artificial turf, or the prep stage for a paver patio, pool deck, driveway extension, or new bed. Each of those wants a different finished surface, so tell us what's going in next and we'll leave it at the right depth.
Grade, Soil & What Comes Next
Stripping sod drops the grade an inch or two, which matters if the new surface has to meet a walkway, a slab, or a driveway. We can grade the area after removal and bring in topsoil or fill to build it back to the right height — priced by the yard delivered and spread. We do not make guarantees about drainage correction; if your yard holds water, we'll say what we can and can't affect.
What Affects The Price
Square footage first, then access — a machine through a wide gate is a very different job from wheelbarrowing through a five-foot side yard. After that: how wet the ground is, how deep the root layer runs, whether irrigation heads and lines have to be worked around, and disposal weight, since wet sod and soil are heavy. Sprinkler lines are avoided where they're marked; unmarked private lines are a real risk on any dig, and we'll flag that before starting.

A few details help us bring the right crew, equipment, and plan the first time.
- Send wide photos showing the full pile or work area, the access route, nearby fences or structures, and a size reference when possible.
- Separate soil, rock, sod, logs, stumps, mixed trash and treated wood when possible because weight and disposal requirements differ.
- Point out gates, soft ground, irrigation, septic areas, overhead lines, drainage features and anything in the yard that must remain protected.
Questions Worth Asking
Is cutting, loading and raking included, or hauling only?
Confirm whether material is already piled or still needs cutting, lifting, machine work or separation, and what cleanup is expected afterward.
Will heavy material be priced by weight or volume?
Brush and leaves are usually volume-based, while soil, rock, sod, logs and mixed construction material may require a weight- and equipment-based quote.
Can equipment reach the material safely?
Gate width, soil firmness, slopes, overhead clearance and protected landscaping determine whether machinery or hand loading is appropriate.

Sod Removal FAQ — Delray Beach
Sod Removal in Delray Beach — questions customers actually ask
I have a pile of branches and palm fronds in my Delray Beach yard. Who hauls that?
We do — $175 for a quarter trailer load and $295 for a half load in Delray Beach. Fronds take far more space than they weigh, so send a photo of the pile and we will price it exactly.
My landscaper left a pile of debris. Can you pick it up?
Yes, that is one of our most common calls. Trimmings, sod, old plants, mulch and rock all go, and we can bring fresh soil, mulch or gravel back on the same trip if you need it.
Can you clean up storm or hurricane debris?
Yes. After a storm we run yard debris loads across Palm Beach and Broward County, usually ahead of the city's slower storm pickup so your property is clear before the next system.
Who can clear an overgrown property or vacant lot?
We cut and haul, or haul only if the cutting is already done. Lot clearing is quoted per project after photos because brush density varies enormously.
Can you remove an old trampoline, playset or basketball hoop?
Yes. Outdoor structures are disassembled on site and hauled, typically $125–$295 depending on size.
Someone dumped junk on my property. Can you get rid of it?
Yes, and quickly — illegal dumping traces back to the property owner in Florida, so it is worth clearing fast. Call (561) 345-9808 and we will price it from a photo.
